4 WEM features to simply model complex applications

From creating “simple” time management apps to “extremely complex” ERP software applications. With the most advanced No Code Platform WEM anyone can create any software application imaginable – without having to code. Still, we often hear: “What are WEMs limits of complexity?”

With WEM, application complexity is solely determined by the business logic you’d like to include. Emphasizing “complexity is subjective” , WEMs Chief Knowledge Officer Rob ten Kroode illustrates 4 of WEMs characteristics enabling you to simply cover the full depth of your business-critical application – independent of the complexity of your organizational processes.

1. Out-of-the-box Integration
For both SMBs and enterprises alike, application integration has become a business-critical priority to enhance scalability, reduce IT costs and thus improve overall business efficiency. “Integration itself is a highly complex feature. Setting up this functionality from scratch requires tons of technical know-how. WEMs out-of-the-box Integration is available by default for all WEM users. The functionality works immediately without any configuration or modification”, Ten Kroode explains. No complex protocol conversions required – WEM makes big data and “Internet of Things” collections accessible.

With WEMs point-and click characteristics, anyone can easily integrate their projects with a huge variety of systems. The WEM Platform supports SOAP, REST, JSON, XML, HTTP and OData to integrate with external systems. And just as easily you can realize single sign-on functionality, by integrating a WEM application with authentication providers, such as Microsoft Active Directory, Google G Suite, Oracle to social systems like Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn. Creating complex enterprise grade applications that require all kinds of integration facilities is a breeze with WEM.

2. Ontology
Business-critical applications often rely on knowledge that is available within an enterprise and subsequently within your application. Knowledge can vary from simple lists to complex, hierarchical information structures. Managing and using all this knowledge is a daunting task. Not when using WEM.

The Ontology functionality offers a very straightforward way to define, store and manage all knowledge needed in your application. From the simple picklist in your CRM application, to hierarchical lists and complex information structures that are needed in knowledge management applications. Accessing and using the ontology in your flowchart is easy: use the drag and drop functionality to use any knowledge item in your application, without you having to add any programming or coding logic to your application to do so. Ten Kroode: “While the overall concept of Ontology is simple, the possibilities are endless. Enabling users to add, use and enrich knowledge makes for a very powerful application. One could create an application as complex as you can imagine”.

The WEM ontology functionality accelerates application development, it allows you to make the user experience more intuitive and create smart applications without any programming.

3. Flowcharts
Flowcharts are the heart of your applications. No matter how complex the functionality of your application or business processes, in the Flowcharts area of WEM you easily model the functionality of your application using a drag-and-drop features. This way you model business processes, workflows, User Interaction (forms, pages, overlays) and external systems integration. “In WEM, flowcharts can be split up in sub-flowcharts and they are easily organized in a structure of folders, which comes in handy in case of an application consisting of hundreds or thousands of (sub)flowcharts” , Ten Kroode explains.

How you organize flowcharts is completely up to you, WEM poses no restrictions. For example, one single business unit can create their custom time management tool based on their specific processes. This could be modeled in WEM as a sub flowchart, part of a flowchart representing an enterprise’ business process as a whole – this way you “simplify your business complexity” .

4. Widgets
From determining geographical locations to using reCaptcha or working with calendar options – WEM includes numerous widgets you can use to enhance the user's experience. WEM includes widgets such as Google Maps, Charts, reCaptcha, calendar, rating systems, sliders, image capture, signatures, audio player, progress bars and many, many more. And if you need something WEM doesn’t have out-of-the-box, WEM gives you the option to create your own widgets.

“The No Code WEM Platform proves to simplify the process of creating complex applications” , WEM CEO Rob Schilperoort states. Visual modeling, integrations, hierarchy, real time testing and one-click deployments – WEM is the most advanced No Code Platform. Empowering anyone with zero technical know-how, to create intuitive, interactive and customized applications as per their business needs – independently how complex. No business logic is too complicated for WEM.
